Spring is almost here!
We are really excited about the 2010 weddings we have booked so far, and of course, we will keep you updated monthly, with another year full of rockin' wedding flower videos and pictures of our beautiful bridal bouquets, ceremony flowers, and reception centerpieces available for delivery to Philadelphia & all surrounding suburbs.
Our first 2010 wedding was just yesterday, March 6th. They couldn't have asked for a more perfect sunny day, absolutely perfect weather for early March.
Here is a few videos below showing the making of the bridal bouquets, and the finished product and delivery of church flowers to Sacred Heart Church in the Manoa section of Havertown PA.
My dad is also in the second "Let Love Rule" video, brought out of retirement, AGAIN, & helping me deliver the house & church flowers in Havertown. Yeah, I know, I gave him the hard part, carrying all the heavy church pieces. He looks pretty good for 70 years old huh?
Ok, here are the videos and pictures below-
You can watch both videos side by side and just turn the volume down on one of the videos. Your song choices are "Wildflower" by The Cult or "Let Love Rule" by Lenny Kravitz which is about as easy listening as I get, sorry... if you don't like either song, you know where the mute button is... Enjoy!
I am excited to announce this years Battle of the Flower Designers will be a March Madness style tournament including 8 florists across the country including flower shops from California, Nevada, Missouri, Massachussetts, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, & Minnesota.
You can check out other battle videos done last year between my staff at Belvedere Flowers, or the epic battle between Belvedere & Everyday Flowers to get a little idea of how this is done.
This year we are taking it up a notch, and also adding a twist to the contest.
Here are the rules and details-

I love the Intro on the Love Shack Photo website.
I had the pleasure of doing a wedding with an awesome photographer, Jackie Bayne of Love Shack Photo.
I have blogged about Jackie in the past, after we did one of my favorite weddings back in early Sept. 2009.
Jackie was a lot of fun to work with and her personality shows in her pictures! I just think she rocks, and if there is anybody out there in the Philadelphia Area looking for a great wedding photographer to work with, I highly recommend Jackie @ Love Shack Photo!
I just received a disc in the mail the other day from Jackie with a bunch of great flower photos from the wedding we did together at the Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova PA. She also shared pictures they took at Citizens Bank Park with the bridal party! The Groom was a big fan of the Phillies, and the Bride surprised him with a special visit to the ball park for some pictures before the reception!
Here are just a few of the great shots taken by Jackie @ Love Shack Photo-
Check out more Love Shack Photos on our Website Gallery & don't forget to check out Jackie Bayne at Love Shack Photo & tell her Adam from Belvedere Flowers sent you.
You can also follow Jackie on Twitter!
First off, a special thanks to Cathy from Sprout Flowers in Worcester MA for the great idea, and a creative way for florists to come together, and help brides get some table centerpiece ideas for their upcoming weddings at a very reasonable price range of $50.
You can read more about the centerpiece challenge and get the exact details on Sprout's Blog.
For my entry to the contest, I decided to do something appropriate for a Spring Wedding. I was also inspired by the tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils I picked up at a great price from the local flower wholesaler. Nothing screams Spring more than those 3 flowers!
To create this design, I used frog pins to weigh down the flowers so they don't float to the top of the vase. Frog pins are obviously nothing new, but it's a great tip I personally picked up from the flower expert, J Schwanke of Ubloom.
I love submerged flowers inside vases, it makes a great conversation piece for any event. We even display submerged flowers on our front counter at the flower shop, so the customers can see how neat it looks. Everyone always asks us, "How do you do that!" Or, "Is that real? How long does something like that last?"
Submerged flowers actually last very long from my experience, sometimes a couple weeks! You may need to change the water after a week, as it tends to get foggy looking. When you first submerge the flowers in water, there is a really neat bubble effect that forms around the edges of the flower, especially on a rose! The flowers also magnify when submerged in water.
Submerged flower centerpieces have also been a very big seller for our 2009 wedding season. You can view some samples by surfing through our YouTube Channel.
Ok, so here is my entry for The Great $50 Wedding Centerpiece Challenge!
It's appropriately called "Spring Sprout"
A special thanks to Darrel ( LJVF) from La Jolla Village Florist for the Photo Shop touch ups to my entry image (shown above). If anybody is looking for help with their custom web images, and wants to use his services, please contact me here. I will make sure I put you in touch with him.
Below is the original photo taken inside an EZ Cube Photo Tent I purchased recently. I still have a lot to learn about photography, so yes, I am an amateur, go easy on me, please!

Ok, surprise surprise, below is a video of my design entry, "Spring Sprout", and it shows you little bit how this design was put together. Of course, I'm still playing music, instead of talking, sorry. Enjoy a great old song by Peter Gabriel called, " I go swimming".
Don't forget to check out Sprout's Blog and vote for your favorite *$50 wedding centerpiece!
*(NOTE- This wedding centerpiece may vary slightly in price depending on the week of your wedding.)
