Well, I'm writing this just a couple days before New Year's Eve! Belvedere Flowers is very excited about what's new in 2009.

First we wanted to say that the Fresh Flower Cupcakes have been a huge success so far for us in December of  2008, and we plan to carry that into 2009 with a few more styles of the fresh flower cupcakes! I'm glad I jumped on the cupcake bandwagon inspired by another great florist in Butler PA.

OK, enough about cupcakes :)

So what else is new in 2009?

Create Your Own Bouquet is one new item added to our website. This gives the customer a chance to tell us what they want. They pick a price range, a style, colors, types of flowers, etc. We also will email a picture of the finished design to the customer, and may even add it to our best sellers page one day with your name on it!

Flower Club Special is another new addition to our now 5 month old website launched in early August of 2008! Flower Club Special is an opportunity to send flowers to yourself or someone else for a whole year! The best part is you can save anywhere from $50 to $230 in delivery charges alone! 

Finally "Buy The Bunch" is a new feature that allows DIY brides, or party planners, garden clubs, or just plain old flower lovers who want to arrange their own flowers, to be able to order them by the bunch through email from our Flower Menu Page.

Along with that we have expanded our singing balloon bouquets, plush animals, and quality chocolates & truffles all available for same day delivery to Philadelphia & over 125 surrounding suburbs!

 Belvedere Flowers is proud to be one of the preferred florists for all of the Haverford Township Elementary Schools including Manoa. They came to me, and asked me to create a beautiful large arrangement for the main entrance to the brand new Manoa Elementary School located on the corner of Manoa, & S. Eagle Rds. in Havertown PA.

I'm glad that school district employees truck was there, he was fixing the front door, otherwise I would have been locked out in the cold holding this heavy vase of fresh flowers! Yes, I delivered these personally to get a peek at the inside of the new school that I pass everyday on my way home. My wife, son & I have watched them build this school in about a years time. All the construction vehicles were a great treat for my son!

This tall cylinder vase  consists of dark blue delphinium, white mountain lilies, white "escimo" roses, silver seeded eucalyptus, mixed seasonal evergreens, and accented with pine cones, blue & silver balls, and glittery silver ting ting to go with the new silver speckled tile floors!

it just so happens that these colors are also a best seller for Hanukah centerpieces this year.

 Inspired by the great florist, www.thebloomery.com, I am experimenting with fresh flower cupcakes to add to our Belvedere Flowers website. The Bloomery was kind enough to share their idea with their fellow florist friends across the country and we were happy and excited to take advantage of their offer to steal their cupcake :)

We plan on creating a whole line of our own version of these flower cupcakes, great for any occasion, such as, birthday, for kids, congratulations, Christmas, & many more. I still have to play around with the designs a little more to find the flowers and colors that work best for us. Carnations seem to be the best option for the flower cupcake, as they do give the look of a nice smooth icing and blend nice, however we will be experimenting with roses , and other flowers too. Stay tuned as we will be updating this cupcake flower blog monthly with more cupcake designs!

 We were approached by a local customer of ours to donate some poinsettias for the upcoming 2008 Haverford Township Holiday Tour in Havertown of Delaware County Pennsylvania.

Belvedere Flowers has been a florist serving Havertown PA for over 20 years now, after moving the flower shop from Center City Philadelphia. We always try to help out as much we can in the local community as we value & appreciate all our loyal customers who shop in our store throughout the years. 

There are a lot of great varieties other then red poinsettias, including cream & marble pink, which are some of my favorites.

We will be delivering poinsettia plants to a bunch of Havertown homes including Cedarbrook Rd., Tenby Blvd., Brookline Blvd., Darby Rd., Strathmore Rd and more for this special day to showcase some of the Township's most beautiful & historic homes this holiday season. Representing a variety of architectural styles, the owners of these homes have graciously opened them for their 2008 Holiday House Tour.

Haverford Township Historical Society

 This special arrangement was created by Belvedere Flowers,  for a funeral held in Drexel Hill PA 19026.

It consists of over 30 calla lilies, 20 stems of bells of ireland, and a bunch of tall curly willow stems. Arranged in a large 14"H by 8"W clear glass cylinder vase filled with river rocks.

Here is another picture to give you a better idea of how grande this sympathy arrangement was.

These were two favorite flowers of the deceased, so it had special meaning to the sender of these 2 flower arrangements.

    I wanted to take the time to blog about a great experience I had with an amazing family & their special  wedding at the Radnor Hotel in St. Davids PA on October 4, 2008.

   I first met with Rebecca & Lenore about a year or so ago at the flower shop to discuss flower ideas for her upcoming wedding. I have dealt with a lot of brides & moms in the past, and I have to say that Rebecca & her mom were truly a pleasure to work with. They made my job very easy to do. They were open to lots of suggestions, however, at the same time, they pretty much knew what style they were looking for. We worked together to make samples of different styles & colors until we both agreed on what looks best. 

  The bridesmaid's dress color were a pretty crimson to burgundy shade of red. From the beginning we decided that a few varieties of red roses would be a nice start to bringing out the dress color. We chose "black magic" & "charlotte" red roses, and Rebecca asked for "royal sunset" orange lilies which happen to run great in the fall season. I added some pretty accent flowers, such as "excellent flair" hypericum berries & orange safflower, with white waxflower to finish off this spectacular bridesmaid bouquet.

   We also used the same flowers for the centerpieces, except adding purple dendrobium orchids to the equation for more pop! We also submerged the orchids in water inside the tall glass pedestals for a nice finishing touch.

  Rebecca's bouquet consisted of "cream code" & "crystal blush" miniature calla lilies. Over 40 stems were used to create this classic hand-tied bridal bouquet!

  Last but not least was the huppah! I cannot tell you how many jobs we have done in the past, where the huppah is usually a rental by the hotel, and it always turns out to be a scary process. We have had to put together arches with missing screws, very flimsy, and hard to attach flowers to.

  We were fortunate enough, this time, to have the grooms father build us a spectacular, sturdy, wood huppah!

 

It was a pleasure to decorate this beautiful creation, and again they just made our job that much easier to do. They even provided us with the fabric & ribbons to decorate it! I just cannot say enough great things about this family! 

I have a lot of years ahead of me in this flower business, and a lot more weddings will be done in that time, but, I know this wedding at the Radnor Hotel will be one that sticks with me for a long time, and I will always remember how kind & appreciative they were to my mom, myself & my staff.

These types of experiences are what keeps me going! It's nice to be able to make someone's dream wedding come true! I am so thankful for the opportunity to make that happen :)
