This quote above was taken from a great website I found called In Lieu of Flowers
I recently attended a Memorial Service for my good friend's father at Riddle Village in Media PA. At his dad's request, he did not want any flowers sent to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name could be made to UNICEF or 1-800-FOR-KIDS.
My good friend Matt wrote a poem to read at his dad's memorial the other day, which really inspired me to write this blog. I wanted to share his great poem with you today.
No Cut Flowers
He said not to cut flowers
Leave them where they stand
Stop and watch them blooming
Come back when you can
They come in every color
None better than the other
Each may have a favorite
One that they discover
He said not to cut flowers
For it is not their time
Look upon their beauty
Remember it with mine
If you see one bent down
Get a stick and prop it up
Give it rain and sunshine
If it hasn't had enough
He said not to cut flowers
Let them grow up high
The roses and the dandelions
Some day must say goodbye
But I’d rather be a dandelion
When it comes time for my death
And be sent a thousand different ways
By a playful child's breath
For I’ve seen the seedlings settle
And I’ve watched the flowers bloom
And I know to keep their beauty
I can't keep them in my room
He said not to cut flowers
Leave them where they grow
I don't know where he's headed
But it's where the good souls go
